Believe it or not, lanyards are a true “must have” at the Universal parks. Unlike the Disney parks, the Universal parks have not entered the 21st century by offering plastic tickets or Express Passes – instead, almost all the tickets and Express Passes that are distributed are on slips of paper about the size of a credit card. The problem is that many of the rides at the parks are designed to get you wet, and wet tickets and Express Passes don’t always work when scanned. This is why we highly recommend a lanyard with a plastic, water resistant ticket holder to safely tuck your park tickets and Express Passes in. Besides keeping them safe, it’s also super convenient for guests with Express Passes as you need to have your Express Pass scanned every time you enter a ride queue!
You can find lots of lanyards at the parks starting at $10 each and going up (the Harry Potter lanyards cost the most). But we have a list here of much more reasonable priced lanyards that work great. You can even buy the ticket holders and lanyards separately to make your own!
